Well hello there 2013!!! You are upon us and so far you have been amazing!!!
Here is my summery summary of how I rang in the new year back in my home town in beautiful Tasmania... where I saw my best friend walk down the aisle as one of her bridesmaids (loved every minute), spent precious time with family, friends and my puppy dogs, gorged on fresh seafood and alcoholic ginger beer at Hobart's Taste festival, discovered the most amazing homemade whisky-citrus marmalade ever made (thank you Coralie), spent a lazy afternoon listening to live jazz on the bean bags at MONA, partied Great Gatsby-style at a penthouse overlooking the harbour and NYE fireworks, and spent five glorious days road tripping on the seriously breathtaking Tasmanian East Coast... Kilometres of white sand beaches all to ourselves, turquoise water (ice cold still, but pristine and deserted), pods of dolphins, campsites on the beach, finding new favourite rosé, summer reading (Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, crime thriller, couldn't put it down) sand-duning, rediscovering my mum's blue velour onesie from the 70s, camp cookery, night-time head-torch matches of frizbie, "draw 2, draw 4, UNO, suffer" marathons, a cracking lightening show, star-filled night skies, Avatar-esque glow worms on the beach, lots of laugh-til-I-wee moments... and narrowly escaping a bush fire!!!
It's going to be a good year.
